Must Have on your Design!

If you’re doing business online, your website is the first chance you have to make an impression on a potential customer.  You have to grab a site visitor’s attention within seconds or else you stand the chance of losing a sale.  That’s why it’s important to include these five features when designing your website:

Great content

You could have great rankings in the search engines, but you can’t keep a customer on your site or make them buy if the content doesn’t address their needs. The customers are visiting your site, now you have to ensure that they stay interested in your products or services.  Inspire and motivate customers to buy your products or services by providing clear and unambiguous information.

A compelling call-to-action

What is it that you want people to do when they come to your site? Do you want them to sign up for your newsletter?  Download your ebook?  Make a purchase or retain your services?  A call-to-action is a prompt to get people to take action.

For instance, in your website copy include “Contact us now” if you want people to call you.  You could also  incorporate a lead capture form where people can provide their email address to receive a free report.  Another way to get people to take action is to tell them that an offer is only available for a “limited time”.

Easy Navigation and Design

When it comes to website design, more often than not, the simpler it is, the better.  People want to visit a site and find the information they want very quickly and easily.  If your website is cluttered, the content is irrelevant, or they can’t navigate to find the information they need, they’ll leave your website in a flash.

Contact Page

It seems like a given, but do you know that there are many websites that don’t have a contact page?   If people have a question about your business, how can they contact you?  Include an email, phone number, and address (if applicable).  The contact page should also have links to social media pages such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. if people prefer to contact you through those channels.

You want your website to be memorable and create sales for your business.  Include these five elements and you’ll be on the road to online business success.
